Japan has a long cultural history. Its isolation from the Western world for many centuries gives it a different perspective of social and civil life. Our designers have examined and thoroughly researched their history books when creating this masterful Samurai set to make sure that all the detail is authentic. Our Samurai chess set is based on the political and military situation that existed in Japan in the sixteenth century. We have chosen Toyotomi Hideyoshi as the Daimyo or Great Lord to represent the King, his Okugato as Queen and Masamune the great Japanese sword maker as the Bishop. The Samurai himself is the loyal Knight and he is aided by the Ninja pawns. (Board not Included)
